I grew up in a rural area in Southern Germany where it was (and still is) quite common to have cold and long winters. But those dark months were always followed by Spring eventually. I remember this time of the year being just wonderful there with nature getting into high gear. So when we visited our families recently I had high hopes and I was not disappointed. My memories were very accurate. Everything was growing and flourishing with splendid colours everywhere.
